In total we released more than 4 057 turtles : 2 093 Baula turtles and 1 984 Carey turtles ! A new record was even set with 106 eggs saved in a single Baula turtle nest.

A collaboration with Jaguar Rescue Center was also made in order to care for and help a harpoon-wounded Carey turtle. But all this work has also been possible thanks to you and the help of our volunteers!

Indeed, this year we were able to clean Playa Grande en Cahuita beach and other beaches several times, paint caims, clean the nursery, clean the sand and make all the preparations for the following year. All these activities enable us to meet and share wonderful memories with the help of the communities and social groups (TKD Caribe, Aldea Limón, PANI).

Education on these subjects with Cahuita school children was also a major focus this year. In fact, we were able to participate in National Parks Day with them, spend a day showing them our work, or even make a turtle release on Children’s Day. With groups from ASSAYA, Fundamentes Foundation, we did some workshop with children and young people.

The year was also completed with the installation of 15 environmentally-friendly lamps, which plays a key role in wildlife protection. Finally, Somos Caribe offer us a magnificent report to showcase our work and the association.
